I know my cousins gave me a hard time for going to an inner-city HS while theirs was in an upper-class part of town, but their school was so infested with drugs and gangs while I knew kids who got accepted to places like Harvard and Yale(whether or not they could afford to go...

I learned that when I was a high school senior in the US as an exchange student in 1981. I was in a public school in Harrisburg, Illinois, a coal mine town. Not a lot of prep school kids nearby, but the stereotype was pretty bad.
