Conservativism is literally just fake news and untreated anxiety. Nobody in good faith would mistake “if these things happen would you be so angry that you’d be ok with X” or not?” for “if these things happen we must do X.” But the right never acts in good faith.

All the while, the right is full of bravado nonstop. “If antifa comes to my town I’ll kill them” is basically a thing they say over and over yet no one seems concerned about that? No one seems concerned that they openly call for terrorist attacks like driving cars into protesters

So I’ll ask again, if, after everything we saw, Kavanaugh is confirmed, and if he ultimately votes to overturn Roe v Wade, is your anger going to be enough that you’re willing to shut down some highways, maybe smash a couple Starbucks windows, or not?

And I ask this because there are a lot of (predominantly white) women talking about rising up and revolution, and I want to ask precisely what those terms mean to them.

Because here’s the thing: conservatives are depending on you seeing violence as acts against the person. But to them violence is an act against capital. This is why they call nonviolently shutting down a highway a violent act worthy of fatal retaliation.

This is why they offer to go out in the woods and shoot the people doing tree sits to oppose pipelines. This is why they say things like “Black Lives Splatter.” This is why the militias y’all a bunch of shit about Don’t Tread On Me but always join up with the cops.

*talk. My phone literally autocorrects talk to y’all

I am not calling for violence. I am not calling for nonviolence. Those terms are meaningless and only exist in relativity. I am calling for action, but what does action mean?

Direct action works when there is: - a clear goal - someone who can be held accountable - and a willingness to increase the cost of noncompliance

So when a rapist gets confirmed and starts stripping away women’s rights, what are we gonna do? Who are we going to hold accountable, and what costs are we going to make too great?

You need to start thinking about these questions now. Because if Brett gets confirmed, and by all likelihood he will be, then there’s not a lot of leeway left. The only ways he leaves are if he dies (I am NOT advocating for killing jfc), if he resigns (he won’t), or impeachment.

No Supreme Court Justice has ever been removed by impeachment.

These are the politics of direct action. And the fact that the Right is losing their shit over my extremely benign question ought to reveal to you how afraid they are of direct action.

It also betrays how they know their positions are full of immorality.

The next week will dictate civil rights in the US for two generations. You need to have an honest self reflection.

To think that asking this question, calling for this level of reflection of the political moment, is an incitement to violence is extreme bad faith. It is precisely the level of gaslighting and control they seek to abuse you with.

If you want an example of why I’m asking, it’s because of comments like this. https://twitter.com/mirasorvino/status/1045461056552865792?s=21 …

Point to me where I call for violence. Did you not learn what a question is in school?

Your words not mine. Could of just said general strike. Or dozens of other adjectives.
