If the women’s march had done anything we wouldn’t have had to get to the point where four women are sacrificing their entire lives to stop a dude named Brett from fucking up civil rights for the next 40 years.

I need you all to understand this. If Kavanaugh’s confirmation is in jeopardy, and I’m not sure it is, it is so only because of the sacrifice of FOUR people.

The activism and stuff has been important and necessary but these are the same people stripping Healthcare and building baby jails and none of the activism has stopped that, and it won’t stop Kavanaugh’s confirmation.

People have to throw their entire goddamn bodies into the machinery to stop it. You can’t just gather around the machine and say “I don’t like you, machine!” all while maintaining it’s parts.

I think that increased civic engagement (including more women running for office) is material. We don’t get to the actions we may need without steps in between.

I credit the first women's march with inspiring the more radical airport protests that took place only one or two days later.

i would very much disagree with this, the original organizers were far more radical and the action spontaneous, what organization it did have came well after they were underway,
@acekatana and i talked about the LAX protests:https://soundcloud.com/groundgamela/ace-talks-the-lax-protests-and-impeachment-march-and-rally … -
I think what we're saying lines up, the airport protests were spontaneous, but they were like the day after the women's march right? I just think their numbers were infused and their approach informed by that massive march the day or two earlier.
