I'd always heard if you turn your phone off they can't compel you to put in the number pin that's required before fingerprint. Is there any truth to that / is that safe or just stick to PIN entirely? Additionally, can you be compelled to just enter your pin as well then?

suggestion for making a pin: use the letters of a song or phrase easy to remember. Add numbers and question marks or some such. Example: Tea for two, two for tea= T4224T ! Obviously this isn't long enough, but you get the idea.

If I’m not mistaken Apple recently introduced the ability to disable the ability of connected USB devices from communicating with the iPhone unless allowed to, to prevent such devices from cracking it.
