One of the big challenges is certainty. While opsec among this crowd is abysmal, you still have to be very careful about what you allege if you want to expose someone.

These kind of actions carry a lot of risk. A big one is defamation. So I go through lengths to protect myself. First, truth is an absolute defense. So having the truth means you’re in the clear. But determining truth is hard.

In the latest expose, I had to wait to confirm the ID even though I had screenshots showing his email and linking it to his username. One point of info is not enough.

The details in his posts start to corroborate each other. His knowledge of specific fields. His other social media profiles. The content there. Eventually, you work up enough that the probability of it not being him is vanishingly small.

That’s when you can maybe be safe. And you have some other defenses. Did the person deny it? Did they reach out to correct it? In this case the answer is no. So I’m unconcerned about legal blowback.

Exposing Nazis is necessary work for public safety. It brings a lot of risk, especially when it catches a system like USC off guard.

White supremacy is a systems issue. So the best revelations don’t just get the Nazi, they get the systems that empower the Nazi, too. I’m proud of the USC community for taking this up for the safety of their community. We keep us safe.
