Hey, that's Mark, my editor at Outward. He edited and published a piece, by me, on trans fears about passports back in March. https://slate.com/human-interest/2018/03/mike-pompeo-could-reverse-a-key-transgender-friendly-passport-policy.html … He was very open to my writing about newer passport concerns, but others got there first with the reporting.
-
Oh I didn’t mean him specifically, but a general ‘yall’

About a decade from now, there's a good chance that many of us will be sitting in concentration camps and there will still be people out there who'll claim they never saw this coming.
-
There will also be people denying the existence of those camps, who will claim you deserve to be there and there will be some who will ask about Hillary’s emails whenever camps are brought up

If your a brown voter in Calif, Arz, TX or any other state & are afraid to go to a voting site for fear of ICE being present & monitoring the facility, call your voter registration and request a ABSENTEE VOTER BALLOT and mail in your vote without fear. Just follow directions!

I think this might be happening to my mom. They asked for the rental agreement for her childhood home as part of proof of residence.
-
Asked what? Who the f*** keeps the rental agreement for their childhood home!? I bet that there are not many in the US who could produce this document if asked.
-
That’s what I said. I told her we need to go into the office and ask what’s going on.
-
I mean, if that criterion was applied universally, most of the US citizens would lose their citizenship. Good luck and courage to your mom, anyway! Seems like she needs that.
-
…those who live on rent, of course. Home ownership in America is constantly over 60% in America.

Won't matter if you're born in the US...it will be determined by the origins of your parents or grand-parents. This is full-blown Nazism and, sadly, I am not being hyperbolic. Americans had better start taking what tRUmp and his minions are doing a lot more seriously.

Q from someone on a beat that intersects with this story but not the trans passports story: what is the most detailed/trustworthy account of that, to your mind? Trying to determine similarities/differences in process, which is hard when a Google hit could be third hand/wrong.
-
Imo this article is a good place to start:https://www.them.us/story/trans-women-state-department-passports …
