You're excited that the person in charge of ICE and the military is shown to have no restrictions on his power? I think a lot of you but that's a BAD take. Marginalized people will be on way more danger if that happens.

This tweet is obviously missing you
-
Is it?
-
Yeah, it is
-
I’ll give you a tip: no anarchist is excited by the prospect of limitless power, and you should read this as a sarcastic tweet cynically assessing liberal excitement over something that shows no promise of occurring

I’m just here for the schadenfreude and general depression that cultivates from watching liberals make prison rape jokes.

I'm not excited about it but I'm certain that's what's going to happen.

Me, a pragmatist, who sees that these events prove the need for effective law & order. We are here because the GOP, despite their claims, love anarchy, because with anarchy, power rules over all. They make it clear that law--when properly enforced--protects as well as restrains.
-
To work, anarchist political theory requires an agreed upon set of values everyone shares. When those values aren't shared by all, evil reins. As amply demonstrated by ICE. When our founders wrote the Constitution, they couldn't imagine a whole political party...
-
...refusing to adhere to the law. They coouldn't imagine a time when a huge segment of society wd disrespect the law--as applied to themselve--in unison, So they failed to include a check on the power resulting from an elected body ignoring the check they were supposed to supply.
-
Which means the checks they thought would be sufficient need to be improved to account for the lack of shared values.

It's a nice thought, but I wouldn't bet on liberals ever abandoning their belief in American greatness, no matter how exhaustively it's disproven

The lies ... that have kept functioning the world’s oldest constitutional democracy for nearly 250 years?
-
The “checks and balances” worked fine all the way up until the point when they were needed, sure.

Surely the GOP will just discard Trump when he's outlived his usefulness.
