YES. This question. I have been wondering that. I was also under the impression that DC had a mask law but they weren’t arresting anyone on it.

In Cville on Saturday night during a peaceful match on Water St., a CPD officer lunges into the crowd. Melee. Official reason? Officer was attempting to apprehend someone who was masking. On Sunday, masked white supremacists paraded in front of literally 100s of cops.
-
Sunday was in DC right?
-
Sunday was in DC but the Vienna metro station is in Virginia. Different police (I guess but Charlottesville was VSP), different area, same laws to enforce.

-
Ugh. Just looked up the code in DC and it’s illegal to wear masks in public or DC government areas or while holding a meeting or demonstration.
-
Yeah and that’s the other part that made no sense to me. In DC they didn’t arrest anyone for masks though. I’m kind of okay with them equally not enforcing their own laws. But if these people came through Vienna metro, they should have all been arrested then.

Most likely have friendlies on the Force.

Also... let’s just pause to recognize the irony (and idiocy) of the unmasking ANTIFA law.

Good question. Although the other side had a lot more masked people. Maybe that’s why? They couldn’t reasonably enforce it against only one side. Or maybe the cops know the law is clearly unconstitutional, so they chose not to violate their oaths by enforcing an illegal law.
-
replies in that thread indicate the law was being enforced (or at least, warning of enforcement) on counter-protesters.
-
I saw video of many counter-protestors masked and near police and the cops did nothing. But considering there were about 20-30 Nazis and thousands of anti-Nazis, it’s obviously possible that it was enforced against some anti-Nazis. :)
-
Anyway, I still despise the law. We have a right to anonymity in public, whether KKK or Antifa or whatever.
