With no criticism intended to the comrade protected Saturday night, since I don’t know details and won’t speak to that instance, a general and gentle reminder to folks that the St. Paul Principles demand a separation of time and/or space.

Masking is always more effective in a bloc. But when you’re masking in a state with felony masking laws, if you do it around people who aren’t masked you can put them at risk, especially if they are Black.

So just remember that masking is about your safety and identity and is best done in a bloc. I’m not saying don’t mask! I’m saying if you do, do t around others who do or it can have negative effects on the people we want to protect.

Since Black folks can’t mask their Blackness, and it is a felony in Virginia, it is necessary to remember one’s privilege while doing so, too.

Again, this isn’t about Cville since for all I know it was a bloc and that would be great! But just a thread to remember to be mindful of the people you are around and their risk profiles.
