I’m sorry what. Let me introduce you to the P-47 Thunderbolt. https://twitter.com/fugueish/status/1027270753576611840 …

In one case, a P-47 survived after eating the entire armament loadout of a German Fw-190. The pilot made it back to base and counted over 100 bullet holes on one side of the airplane before giving up.

The German pilot, after initially disabling the plane, trailed the pilot back to the English Channel and twice was able to leisurely line up bursts of fire in an attempt to shoot it down. When he failed, he flew alongside, saluted, and turned home.

This is because of good engineering. Aircraft are designed with redundant systems in place so that if one fails the plane can still fly. This is true of all aircraft, including civilian passenger aircraft.

When single points of failure exist, there is often extensive and expensive work done to fix it. The MD-11 jackscrew is one good example.

... NOT ALL AIRPLANES ARE LIKE THAT I'm sorry, I couldn't help it. I'll see myself out.
-
But some are, and his assertion is that none are!
-
But actually most civilian airliners are damage tolerant it’s just that modern missiles are too good and they have no warning systems
-
I wish I could afford for you to come work on my team *wrenches on drone* totally random thoughts

no those are just limited engagements. Rarely ever any boots on the ground. Policing actions, really. Some light ethnic cleansing maybe.
