Fellow queer/PoC activists: how do we reconcile being anti-police and no-good-cops with being pro-private-security-force (or at least in favor of helping organize the workers doing those jobs)? I'm struggling to think through some of these nuances.

The police act as agents of the state, in defense of capital and white supremacy. That is their flaw, not the service they purport to render. Private or community-based security serve as agents of those to be protected.

With you there re community service. But are tech company security only protecting their own communities or are they agents of a power that isn't accountable to nearby communities?

They are protecting their corporations' legal liabilities, because security services are legally-regulated and therefore act as an accountability shield.

Incidentally, had I stayed in the states, I was going to do armed security certifications for precisely this purpose.

You can't, for instance, operate a Redneck Revolt chapter and train for event security without potentially violating state and federal laws. Hold a security license and charge someone $1 for a security services contract and it becomes 100% legal.
