I assume I’m not the first one to criticize use of #a11y to stand for “accessibility”, but I didn’t know what it meant until literally right now so I couldn’t complain earlier.

I legitimately am confused how 18 fits in the middle with that or 11 with accessibility. Maybe something in my head doesn’t allow me to process that phonetically as I think somehow? I’ve always been v confused by both. Interesting. *googles the origin*

Both are - or were - meant as written abbreviations. It's the resemblance of one-one to ell-ell that turned a11y into something saId out loud. No-one says i18n out loud. Do they?
