Will you be pythoning at the new gig¿

-
Probably!
-
Yay! I'm all python 3.6 on aws ebs at new gig building up analytics platform (still automating data imports/ transformation from saas partners now, but will panda / matplotlib / jupyter soonish)
-
Like I became the happiest when Lambda started supporting python3
-
I tried to get it Lambda to work but something in my brain short-circuited. i went back to ebs because easier for me (from my debian days) and also mariadb because not yet know how to run complex queries from dynamodb... (maybe next job...)

And point taken. I assume 2.7 will be part of python install-base well into 2027.
-
Only if someone else takes up maintaining it. The official sunset date for python 2 is in 2020. Small chance that python 2 becomes the Windows XP, but most major libraries are dropping support in 2019. Some already have.
-
I mean there will be installs out there for systems that "just work" and management will say "why spend money?" So some will linger.
-
Of course. That'll make it easier to separate the well-maintained products from the ones that should be avoided.

I thought they were trying to stop supporting 2.7 as fast as possible.
