I’m still kind of whatever about this because it still isn’t really scary yethttps://twitter.com/megdalts/status/1023643079897763840 …
These "3D printed guns" are nothing more than 80% lowers, which you can just buy online if you so desire, and regularly come in polymer materials. Heck, most semi-automatic handguns with a price point < $600 have polymer lowers.

Maybe, but not any kind of polymer :p The hardest thing a generic common 3D printer can print is nylon (we're not talking about 6K$+ printers or specialized ones), but even nylon is not accessible to every cheap 3D printers.

Really the issue is durability. The heat transfer is likely not a problem. If anything, my bet is that the first thing that goes is the firing assembly, since it'll probably end up getting loose via deformation.

I’d be interested in watching one fired to destruction, presumably by a very dumb guy or one with a bench rest and a length of string
-
Or by just a bunch of jackass engineers like me and my friends.
-
what is an engineer if not someone with a bench rest and a length of string, at least metaphorically
