If I wanted to fuck with voting machines, I wouldn't task a team of hackers to do things. I'd find the most disgruntled, dgaf employee and shove a wad of cash and a thumb drive at them.

I am! (Concerned by it). It's not perfect (problems of accessibility regarding some disabilities for example) but I trust paper ballots more than any kind of device based on hardware capable of general purpose computation. There's a ridiculous number of ways it can be compromised
