Election system safety is rightfully focused on software vulnerabilities and the like. But I still contend it would be easier to just put a backdoor in the system at the manufacturer. No one really seems awfully concerned about that, though.

If I wanted to fuck with voting machines, I wouldn't task a team of hackers to do things. I'd find the most disgruntled, dgaf employee and shove a wad of cash and a thumb drive at them.

Voting machine companies sit in anonymous black-windowed office parks on roads like John Galt Blvd. in cities like Omaha. They're not exactly competing with the Facebooks and Googles over talent.

When I reviewed all the certification reports, there were many remarks in the reports that suggest engineeing best practices are deeply out of date among all manufacturers.
