The "Unmasking Antifa Act" is very concerning and reflects a willful misunderstanding of what "Antifa" is, but I have also been saying that the risks of fascism are not just in the streets.

I think anti-fascist activism needs a longer view of its goals. Because like, the Proud Boys came in, started shit on camera, badly injured people, and then they went and did a photo-op with the March Against Guns or whatever it's called.

I mean the mainstream press’ fixation on street violence only feeds into anti-antifascist/ left legislation like the proposed anti-masking law. That narrow fixation won’t ever change (I mean look at historical treatment of anarchists). The centrist media game is not winnable.

Resistance to ICE and the cops is very much an anti-fascist endeavor, and part of the larger antifascist movement and project IMO. Occupations at ICE facilities aren’t necessarily the best tactic tho (certainly not long term). However, it speaks to strengthening communities

Of course. My point, though, is that throwing bodies into the justice system isn't particularly effective and the left needs to figure out a strategy that doesn't involve trying to retroactively sell its activities as being for the public good.

I don’t know that the already un-converted public will ever be down for the cause and we have to just press forward (eg polls about MLK’s activism). I do agree that strategizing to balance safety and efficacy is an important and ongoing convo activists are having
