Civil rights are in a backslide. I try to remind myself that for some they've always been in an awful place. Maybe the other thing that "saves" us is an economic calamity. That would be suboptimal.

But how do we organize a general strike? It seems nearly impossible.

We have everything we need to spread the word, globally, for the first time in our history. We have been practicing the art of advertising since the cave. We have the tools. We have the skillz. We can rebuild this. All we need is for the idea to reach the right brain(s)

A massive nationwide general strike that doesn't stop until virtually the entire government resigns is going to be the only answer.

The very concept of doing something like this is inconceivable to most of America-especially an America where most people are one paycheck away from disaster. I cant even buy groceries if I miss a day of work-how the fuck can I afford to strike?

I'm all for a general strike, but the whole concept is foreign to Americans ditto for sympathy or political strikes. Taft-Hartley and years of anticommunism have all but killed those impulses in the public.

I do think that a general strike is about the only effective option we are going to have left.

I think maybe the inevitable, necessary general strike and the self-sustaining communities you propose as a next phase for effective antifascism can be one thing, one moment, modeled in some of the stronger ice occupations now, or the Olympia Blockade/Commune last year.

I dont even know if that would work, unless we shut down EVERYTHING. And there would be causalities/martial law. I dont think we’re capable as a nation of doing enough to make a difference.

And there is no need for mass casualties...if we all just stay home, don’t contribute or buy. Don’t give them a target for tanks on the street. We all just take a week’s vacation. Needs to go viral, and that’s the first issue. 2nd is prep, to include those who can’t manage alone
