These are all pre-existing conduits which whoch GOP messaging gets spread. And it's like a game of telephone! It doesn't even matter if what people are talking about is the same as what the GOP is talking about.

What matters is that they *think* it is. Facebook and all those analytics didn't really do an advanced thing. They scaled this phenomenon, and they wrapped an API around it, but it was already there.

It's not even proper to say, for instance, that Trump voters who are losing their jobs for his policies are overwhelmingly motivates by racism. That is a motivation, sure. But they are given to believe that he is acting along their best interest, even as they struggle.

It's a generational struggle to consistently shift votes in these regions. And it may not even be worth it for a single presidential campaign. 5000 or whatever votes in Page Co isn't gonna make the difference.
