Blue Wave Democrats better have a coping strategy for November because a nation whose government is building concentration camps and trafficking children is not a nation with fair elections.

Telling people voting for the first time that it does nothing isn't conducive to keeping them politically active unless you have a study I'm not aware of. Telling activists to make sure their friends are registered even if they haven't voted is a constructive criticism
-
I didn't say it does nothing. I said it doesn't do everything.
-
I've never heard anyone claim that. Warning that a tough slog is ahead is useful but you sound so fatalistic low info voters could be depressed. "My vote doesn't count" is a common refrain from them and you know it
-
Lol, just another purity activist, I got it now. Have fun in Europe I'll be tying to flip the 49th, not enough to have a democratic majority but someone has to do it. Not you though

Better to directly say " you must vote for your life America" next time .
-
It's not better to say that. The focus here is that whether or not you interact with the electoral system, it is presently corrupt. Please vote. But if you have any expectation that it will matter, maybe address the corruption ALSO.
-
Whether you interact or not is a huge deal . It's only the lives of children and your own you are doing the bare minimum to not trash. Of course it matters.
-
I'm going to try one more time. If your friend has a coin and both sides are the same (e.g. both sides are heads), it would make sense to get a new coin before agreeing to coin toss. Yes, please vote. Let's also make sure the coin we're using hasn't been tampered with.
-
It's not the same. If you can't see that , you probably haven't heard of that children in cages thing.
-
Do more than vote. That is all I'm encouraging you or anyone else to do. Be well.

tbh the most dangerous opponents of change are the civility-obsessed centrists. they have a distinct inability to see vast differences between the two parties, & their obsession w/ norms & decorum stifles actual attempts at protesting a proto-fascist movement led by the WH.

This is a difficult message to communicate, and I applaud you for trying. One part of what the blue wave tweeps need to understand is that undoing corruption is going to take longer than one election. I've been thinking about how to communicate ideas like yours.

It took more than 50 years for the Germans to clean up their mess from the nazis. I can’t imagine the strength it’s going to take to clean up this tragedy we’re in now, what with the zero amount of help we’re getting from the

Thanks for your reply. I would love to know more about how Germany recovered from the Nazis. Can you suggest reading material? Have you written on the subject? I'm very interested. Many Thanks!
-
I would google the reconstruction of Germany after WWII. There are a lot of articles on the subject. And, many suggestions for books too.
-
Thank you.

Of course the game is rigged. Don't let that stop you--if you don't play, you can't win. —Robert A. Heinlein Yes, they are going to try to rig the election. It has worked for the GOP before, why stop now. The only way this changes is overwhelming support in voting them out.
Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

liberals do not believe that there are viable means towards political change except for voting or by way of influencing voting. protests and activism are just ways of increasing or decreasing turnout and accomplish nothing else in their view
-
when you truly understand this mindset, liberal behaviour makes more sense. voting is the *only* way to change anything, so any discourse around it has to be divided into 'aims to increase voting' and 'aims to decrease voting'
-
see also the idea that criticizing democrats in any general election amounts to pro-republican sabotage
