Also, not allowing undocumented immigrants to get drivers licenses isn’t going to stop them from driving when they need to do so. It’s in everyone’s best interest to allow them to do so because if they don’t have a license they probably can’t get properly insured either.

People are going to smoke week so might as well legalize pot. People are going to speed so we don’t need speed limits either. That’s my favorite.

-
Speeding is a safety issue, and so is making sure all drivers are licensed. Setting an artificially low speed limit is just going to make people speed, and adding artificial immigration status checks to get a license is just going to make people drive without if they need to.

Also, yes we should legalize cannabis but mainly because it was made illegal due to racism and corporate lobbying by competitors to hemp manufacturing.

Does.. Does the person you're quoting think we just hand out licenses without testing?!
-
Honestly, probably.

This person seems to think undocumented immigrants get driver's licenses without taking a driver's test or standing around at the DMV! What is up with that?

Or, more granularly, so that we can roughly ensure that when they drive, they will do so at a certain minimum level of competency. Which is why we license everyone - for our collective safety.
-
Our collective safety is why the US has a vetting policy and why the immigrants are supposed to go through proper channels.

Undocumented immigrants commit less crime than native-born Americans.
-
Or do they?..............................maybe it’s just..........undocumented! Lol

It's not like they're just given to them. They still have to pass the exam like everyone else.

I want to write a white paper about how privileged attacks on low income labor force is all the argument you need to support walkable communities, work adjacent affordable housing and strong public transit.

I’ll bet they think that most of the people here that aren’t legally supposed to be jumped the border as opposed to simply overstaying a work visa. Which would be less of an issue if there was a competent department in charge of visa renewal.

Doesn't a license make them documented? That would be a document: name, identifying characteristics, a photo...
