Unless, perhaps, he's looking for a reason to quickly draw and shoot the child.

Retention holsters make it so you have to be more deliberate to unholster a weapon. A Level 1 holster requires a single action to draw the weapon. Level 2 requires 2, Level 3 requires 3, etc. This holster has three actions to remove the weapon.

The strap that you can see on the agent in the background is the same basic concept. That strap isn't just a strap. There's a button that you have to press first, then you can push the strap forward. Those are the first 2 "levels," though they can be done in 1 action really.
Show this thread -
Snapping forward the strap means there's only one level left. There's *really* no good reason to do this. The other agent hasn't. One thing you should be able to recognize is when cops are making their guns more available.

The thing is, tho, retention holsters are for the gun-wearer's safety. They exist so that it's really hard to grab a gun from a cop. You have to know exactly how to do it. And it's hard to do it because of how the buttons are aligned.

So when a cop disables two safety mechanisms, it puts himself and others at further risk. The strap being forward is also visible, as if daring someone to try to go for the gun. These cops know what they're doing when they do that.

Why is that noteworthy?

It's a mystery! One would have to embark on a journey of reading the rest of the thread to find out!

I don’t know what that means. That he could shoot the kids faster?
-
Ah, saw the other tweet.

More likely reasons the retention strap is down, he didn’t holster his pistol properly, he did it mindlessly, he has some personal distrust of the retention mechanism and disabled it against regulation. Why assume?
-
Why in al the world would you think this is “more likely”?
-
Because people make small mistakes more often than murder each other. Assuming violence when there is no indication in the pic is irresponsible and irrational.
-
...you’re paying attention to what ICE is doing here, right? Like...you’re actually seeing what they’re doing? And you’re somehow coming away with “good intentions”? Just...jfc. This fucking world is absurd.

I responded to a tweet about a picture which I didn’t think accurately described what was shown. It doesn’t represent and no picture can, the entire situation. I don’t see how departing from the facts helps anyone.
-
Yeah, either do I. So please take a good, hard fucking look at the facts. *ICE agents tearing kids away from their parents - even newborn babies; *Laughing about it; *Having their weapons easily accessible while doing so.
-
Please sit with that for a while & stop thinking they’re “good people” in ANY way. It’s not helping.
-
You ARE part of the problem, FYI.

You have to mentally trick these guys into making it harder for them to use their weapon? Are you serious? They're that untrustworthy and that unhinged?
