Years ago, when I was at 4-H camp, a big storm, possibly with a tornado, came through. I was assigned to ring the bell to call people to shelter. So I did but no one told me to stop and it was a while before I realized I was the last one left outside. And they locked the door.

I think they often ring the bells during the Eucharist at Catholic churches, which doesn't usually happen on the hour bc mass usually starts on the hour or half hour. They're shouting "God is here! Check this transubstantiation!" At least, I think that's what's happening.

I agree. But 7mn for a Eucharist ringing is exceptionally long, unless special occasion.
