    Walking down the street in Berlin and there's a car carrier with an American-style, Confederate Flag license plate displayed on the dashboard. wtaf

        Confederate flags are common in Europe, especially among football clubs in my neck of the woods because it's a stand-in for Nazi imagery and also connected to ideas of rebellion and anti-government sentiment.

        You will literally see whole walls painted like the battle flag and more open imagery such as Nazi eagles etc;

        That's sort of a thing here in Sweden too. There's a subculture called "Raggre" that adopts a bunch of aestethics from American pop-culture. It's like a mix between Rockabilly, James Dean movies, and Dukes of Hazard. They usually use the confederate flag mostly as an aestethic.

        *Raggare not "Raggre" Like the usage of the flag seems to be mostly surface level as it's mostly inspired by American road movies, TV, and other entertainment. But I've also never seen or heard of a non-white Raggare ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

        You might know better than me. The only encounters I've had with Raggare has been seeing their cars while driving through small towns. And meeting one that had managed to get drunk on folköl at a gas station.

        Interesting, they're usually older since raggare culture peaked in... eh, sometime in the past. My point is that the flag is still a racist symboleven though these Swedish losers refuse to let go of it.

        Sweden has a big problem of "well, this racist symbol has no history here so it's not racist" and that's... Not true. Swedes have tried to pull this with blackface, the confederate flag etc.

        Sweden is so clueless that one of the public service tv channels decided to interview white raggare about their opinion of the confederate flag after news from the US about it. Asking if they thought it was racist or not after since they were apparently experts.
