this is why i learned to STOP being subtle about my interest or attraction. If someone's into me, they're relieved that they don't have to awkwardly agonize over it, and if somebody's not into me, it's established quick and then not an issue anymore. Works for me, at least.

...but of course even then I'm over simplyfying because we have to do this shit first until one of us gets the clue that the interest isn't unwanted .UGH. Never mind. I'm just as subject to it as everyone else.
