Both paths can have devastating effects on the lives of BIPOC ECRs as has been the case since summer 2020. I mused over whether to speak to a screenshot I received two days ago, the same day a reminder of the shitshow that began summer 2020. 2/

Since I know this thread, as all my threads that concern BIPOC medievalists and early modern scholars make their way to "Doctrix Snow" (who I blocked summer 2020) this is not a subtweet but a commentary and response. 3/

Two screenshots, both of which I received via DM. This first screenshot I ignored because Snow is/was blocked. And, this is important: Snow is not a priority to me and never has been. 4/pic.twitter.com/Rmq9Gzuifr

My first concern is and will always be: Black, Indigenous, Asian, Latino/x, and marginalized ECRs scholars working in
#PCRS. A point I believe each of my threads make rather clear. 5/Show this thread -
Blocks don't mean anything to white people. My earlier threads were written to and for
#PCRS BIPOC ECRs and accomplices. Not once in those threads was Snow named. I do have receipts. 6/Show this thread -
Yet, I have been chastised by white academics on Snow’s behalf. Why? Because Snow inserted herself into my narrative. An oft repeated saying within the Black community, and usually by elder Black women: what you do in the dark will come out in the light. 7/

On Twitter, that saying translates into: screenshots are evergreen. When screenshots made their way to me it was clear Snow made them about her, and assume a role in my life that I had not granted her, or any of her white or POC followers or allies. 8/

This is peak white supremacist strategy and, not surprisingly, the narrative lens was recalibrated away from racism and sexism directed at
#PCRS BIPOC ECRs and to spotlight Snow. I choose to not respond to Snow's tweet or those on her behalf. I blocked. 9/Show this thread -
Fast forward to June 2021. Screenshot #2 This one I am not going to ignore because it is directly addressed to me. BTW, I’m easy to find so this could have been an email, not a tweet. 10/pic.twitter.com/FIlCoJlsXS

I don’t play the white woman victim game, especially when said white woman comes into my neighborhood. My challenge to you, Snow: go ahead. Write to my university as you did to the BIPOC ECRs. File a Title IX harassment complaint. 11/

File a complaint of cyberstalking (you’ll need proof that I have communicated directly with you for “over 6 months”). As to “unreciprocated”: I do believe a “Twitter Block” prevents “unwanted communications." So I insist that you provide evidence of 12/

direct "communications" I have had with you before June 23, 2021. Provide evidence that I monitor your TL. I insist that you go forward with your threat.

I am tenured. I am a “Senior Scholar” in my field. I am a Black woman. I also have principles about how I treat/engage “Younger Scholars” – until a line is crossed, especially by white academics. I engage where and with whom I wish.

You are not, never have been, and never will be among that group. This is a Black woman telling a white, privileged woman playing white tears--don't start none, won't be none. Now is the time for you to stop.

So I say, Snow, do what you must but do it legally. Engage me without pseudonyms or threats but if you chose to do both, then be assured this Black academic woman’s career will not suffer. I owe white women like you nothing, especially not respect.

Snow, you refuse to back away from ableist support of racist attacks on BIPOC, use white women's tears and pleads victimhood, and accuse others of behavior you are engaged in. You threaten and expect people to silence themselves. Not this time.

My stance hasn't changed with respect to the BIPOC and accomplices whose careers you sought to damage. They have my unqualified support. As for me ... when you come for me, please come prepared. I'm done.
