And society is more degenerate, dysfunctional every day. The tool used is less important than underlying reasons why anyone would do this.
I’m not sure I’d agree with society as a whole being more dysfunctional everyday. A lot of our perceptions are influenced by what we take in, but you are right that we have to look at behavior, as well as, developing resources to prevent these horrendous acts.

Is society more dysfunctional, or have our avenues of communication exceeded the our language and social development? How often do we feel we can have 'win' a debate with a pithy or witty phrase? What happens our legislators resort to slogans when deciding important issues?

I feel that we live in fleeting moments because we are moving quickly with little accountability. The need for recognition and quick rewards have become important, but that’s not what matters. People matter. Slogans don’t put food on the table, or teach a child to read.
