No one is saying “abolish” the police. But the FOP and other police unions need to be policed from the outside. Cops covering for cops is what needs to stop as well as the militarization of police forces. That’s what the national Guard is for.
Absolutely! Outside oversight is warranted and necessary. Requiring cameras will ease oversight. Unfortunately there are groups conflating defund with abolish. I’ve witnessed reputable people comment several times. It’s a complex issue and the language being used isn’t helping.
