I’m going to be angry for a very, very long time over the fact that the world could have simply paused for a few weeks in March/April of 2020 and eradicated COVID while simultaneously saving millions of lives and sustaining only mild economic damage, but instead chose not to.

Could we have, though? By March it was already _everywhere_. Pockets of it would have remained - in jails, in congregate housing, among the noncompliant - and it would have roared back as soon as the pause ended. We could have handled it much better, absolutely, but eradication?

Also places like Kibera and Dharavi and Nezo-Chalco-Itza can't really just "pause."
