    Fox ran the entire funeral on Saturday? I’m sure McCain got a good laugh about that.

    I hope that Fox News hit a new Saturday ratings record for showing all of the McCain funeral. It was important that Fox viewers, in particular, glimpse the parts of America that are being lost under this president.

    The contrast between the outpouring of love for McCain in his last days and the astonishing vitriol directed at him in 2000 and 2008 demonstrates once again how disingenuous, low, and cheap American politics were well before Trump came on the scene.

    What could Congressional Republicans do to show they take McCain's legacy seriously? To start, they could 1) legalize DACA recipients, 2) protect Mueller, and 3) secure our elections. These bills exist. They could be passed this month.

    HELSINKI SUMMIT UPDATE: We still don't know exactly what TRUMP & PUTIN agreed to. BUT, I can now report that the White House Communications Agency's team did in fact produce a challenge coin commemorating the occasion. Alas, it does not feature the faces of Trump & Putin.

    Though presumably millions of others are doing so as well, seeing off John McCain is a deeply personal experience, because each speaker caught the uniqueness of the man. But nothing was like being in his luminous, funny, energetic, and honorable presence. Thank you, John.

    Struck that the sole pallbearer John McCain chose from the Senate is Sheldon Whitehouse, a liberal (though definitely not a Bernie-ite). Both quality people who found each other amid their more pretentious, humorless, and less genuine or honorable colleagues.

    Wait. Is Trump saying that his own followers are such hooligans that they’ll commit violence if he loses and he can’t stop it? Some took his as a racist statement but in that case he’d predict violence if he wins. Is Trump confused?

    In case you had a shred of respect or trust left in Mr. Trump, this statement should effectively dispel it.
