  3. Today’s Trump is lucid, gracious to his allies, and humorous. Watch out, Democrats. He added: “We’re going to take care of things.” Really, Watch out.

. thinks is right: following the US Senate's acquittal of , the president is likely to go further in undermining the integrity of November's election

  6. It was the clear evidence of overwhelming bipartisan agreement that Richard Nixon should be forced from office that caused him to resign. (That and the pension he would otherwise lose.

  7. By definition, the Founders' requirement of a broad consensus in these days would require bipartisanship, and that definitely didn't exist this time.

  8. The Founders had it correct when they said a president can't be removed from office unless there's a broad national consensus behind it.

  9. Have to say I think that though Trump abused power in his non-"perfect" phone call to Zelensky and in obstructing congress, the Senate vote on conviction came out right.

  13. What a surprise! (And I almost never use !s.)

  14. So far, so much for the pundits' nearly unanimous verdict that Mayor Pete would get no bounce out of his apparent victory in ailing Iowa.

  15. Sorry, Bernie backers, the Iowa caucus works (when it does) the same as the electoral college. The winner is the one with the most delegates, not popular vote -- or is Hillary Clinton president? (I know, here come the twitter attacks.)

  16. Weekly? Really? Too busy, but your comment is very nice.

  17. One person who's in no hurry to have the Iowa results come out is Joe Biden.

  18. They're running out of new things to say about Iowa, new ways to express outrage -- but that doesn't stop them from saying it again. And again.

  19. Pollyanna I'm not, but if Iowa turns out to be singular -- as it may well be -- and the rest of the contests go smoothly, it won't be the humongous deal later on that it is now. We'll have new things to talk about.
