When you tell someone facing eviction that they should “just get a job,” remember that a full time, minimum wage worker can afford rent in ZERO states in America. ZERO. We can’t let 11 million households be evicted in the midst of a pandemic. Congress must act. Now.

Cannot sufficiently express how urgent it is—especially after the Supreme Court’s bad decision last night—that the state legislature reconvene to pass new legislation that would keep people in their homes and protect New Yorkers from eviction.

  3. Spoiler alert: NYC isn't in the top 10. Climate security is more than just vulnerability to climate change, it's how cities are building a greener future. NYC could be on this list if we act aggressively to reclaim car space and build sustainable, people-first streets.

Housing rights are not only human rights but animal rights as well. Animals are family, and no New Yorker should ever be denied housing because they don’t want to leave their family behind.

  9. ✅ Passed! Today voted to expand shelter access for NYers experiencing homelessness with pets. Homelessness is traumatic, we shouldn’t add to it by separating pets. Pets are our families. TY

Homeless New Yorkers are outside City Hall protesting a crazy rule created by that makes it so anyone with the CityFHEPS housing voucher will lose their rental support the minute they make one dollar over minimum wage. This will cause people to become homeless again.

Activists protesting outside of NYC City Hall. About 17 people, with signs.

We are HYPED over here! NYC needs a plan to support unsheltered homeless NYers who have pets so they don’t have to make the decision between forfeiting their pets or staying on the streets/subways. These bills are a great step towards common-sense solutions.

NEW: All 148,000 Department of Education staff in NYC will have to get at least their first shot by Sept. 27. This is a full vax mandate, no more test-out option. Includes educators, custodians, central staff - basically every adult in school buildings.

In addition to being the wettest day since 2014... the 1.94" of rain that fell from 10pm to 11pm at Central Park last night was the wettest hour on record for New York City. More rain fell in that one hour than any other since record keeping began.
