There has been quite a hearty discussion regarding political ads on social media lately given the recent announcement from @Twitter banning political ads. Here are my thoughts:
Whether protests on streets of Glens Falls In #NY21, on college campuses, or online, I strongly support freedom of speech. Speech is constitutionally protected in the United States & individuals, organizations, & campaigns should be able to share their message directly to voters.
When I ran as an unknown, underdog candidate in 2014, I was the first candidate ever to file using @instagram. Our campaign used @facebook in innovative ways to reach voters. This is especially important for newcomer candidates who have never run before.
Having the ability to use social media to publish campaign ads is critical for underfunded and challenger candidates who may not have the resources to purchase traditional (and expensive) TV ads. Also important for rural candidates who have complex and vast media markets.
Lastly, it’s most important for local candidates to get their message out to voters given small campaign budgets. I strongly support freedom of speech to communicate with voters where they are, which is increasingly on digital platforms. 
I will continue to lead on cracking down on foreign disinformation campaigns on social media by closing loopholes & strengthening campaign finance laws. As an American, I believe strongly U.S. candidates should be able to communicate directly with voters to share our message.
What are your thoughts on why republicans are ignoring congressional subpoenas? Does the law not apply to them?
What are you thoughts on zuckerberg's refusal to ban political ads that contain lies? Your party benefits greatly from unethical smear campaigns on FB so I'd be interested to know how you feel about there being no basis for truth in FB's political ads.
This conflicts with your consistent use of this platform to prop up America’s foremost proponent of foreign misinformation, the sitting POTUS.
Not to mention your consistent use of this platform to push your party’s own active misinformation campaigns. You’re part of the reason Twitter needs this policy.
