    ☔️Hydraulic engineer, Dr.Sebastian explains thinking "outside of the box", or "outside of the floodplain" floodplains only account for river or creek flooding, not heavy rain that floods urban streets. Flash flooding is the climate threat.

    ☔️Warmer air holds more moisture...leaving our storms supercharged. Charlotte sees many more 1" & 2" deluge days since 1950, more rain falls at once.

    ☔️📝We need to plan for future flooding because... "When there is climate change or more extreme precipitation this problem gets even worse" Dr. Antonia Sebastian Floodplains are getting wider, rapidly...thanks to more rain & more concrete.

    Buying out homes from high risk floodplains saved the city & county $9 million worth of damage in JUST ONE EVENT!! Think about how that adds up every time we get a heavy rain event... 💵💵💵💰💰💰

    This year set the 8th lowest annual minimum (summer) sea ice volume on record in the PIOMAS data set. [Data validation/methodology at ]

    Line graph time series of the annual minimum Arctic sea ice volume for each year from 1979 to 2021. There is a long-term decreasing trend in ice volume. The data is simulated by PIOMAS.
