I'll grant that independents needed persuasion this cycle, but let's be honest and admit that most people who call themselves independents still have one party that they lean towards.

This is so true! Some@people are independents until the *right* candidate comes along!
I just got home from voting in Houston. There were about 3 or 4 uncontested races and all of the candidates in those races were Democrats. Would not have seen this in prior elections in Houston.
