There are flaws in the system that make regular people feel like our voices don't always count. We must end gerrymandering, publicly fund elections, implement ranked choice voting, have online & same day voter registration, & move to a nat'l popular vote for president. /2
We're seeing what happens when local officials make it easier to vote, esp here in Harris County. When people feel they have a voice & they can hold their elected officials accountable at the ballot box, we'll have a more engaged public & results that are better for everyone. 3/3
"implement ranked choice voting," Believing that changing the rules will result in your preferred policies being adopted, apart from being narcissistic, is like thinking that your team would have won the Super Bowl if only the field had been a different length and width.
That's not why I support RCV. The current way we elect reps means that 3rd party voters are inherently disenfranchised, and lead to costly runoff elections. I believe that the more people can participate in democracy, the more responsive government must be to the people.
