I am boggled. My daughter was born in 2010. I'd lost my job in 2008, and outside of a well-paying 6 month contract, I was only working retail. My husband lost his teaching job when I was 5 months pregnant. We were thisclose to being homeless with a newborn.
As a working, single mom who owns my own home. Wow. Redlining may not officially exist anymore, but it's the sort of attitude in this video that keeps our neighborhoods and schools effectively segregated.https://twitter.com/jemelehill/status/1311692177538383878 …

We only survived because we a) had well paying jobs before we lost ours, so had some savings and b) had family who could help us. It was luck of circumstance. And it took us a good bit of time to climb out once we were employed again.
