My alma mater has always been a little different. This is definitely an innovative approach.... not entirely sure what I think about it, but I bet the @ricemob will have a great show about it. Just let me know when the (hopefully virtual) show meeting is!https://twitter.com/HoustonChron/status/1283506507259224064 …

Adapt and overcome difficulties, unlike our current federal government ran by the dude who trolls on Twitter.

I mean, why not hold class in the stadium? I'm not sure if the stat still is true... but we used to be told every alum living and dead could fit there, so it's way bigger than Keck Lec for Chem 101 and social distancing

This sounds like a job for civil discourse in order to work out solutions to problems... but jeez, you have a president and Republican echo chamber spouting off “radical left” which only divides and creates an atmosphere where civil discussion is improbable if not impossible.

Yeah, they perpetuate it, but the bigger problem is that we have a system that keeps the powerful in power so all voices aren't equal (or even heard). I do believe so much of our hyperpartisanship is a symptom of bigger issues, not the cause. (It's a vicious cycle, though, def)

Exactly this... the number of “representatives” that have monetized their positions in office is quite frankly the horror show that rarely gets shown, and these are the ones who make the laws that govern their actions? When will the vicious cycle ever break?

When we fix campaign finance, hold representatives from both parties accountable, and elect more diverse candidates. I ran for office - never took a penny of corporate money and instead talked to people. Didn't win, but forced a runoff and don't regret a minute of it.

I wish I could have voted for you. But even more I wish the dismantling of the FEC done by a very corrupt man was a bigger story. I read about what the FEC is supposed to be and took comfort, but it’s only untapped potential

Appreciate it! Public records of donors are only the barest minimum for campaign finance transparency. And... who knows, I may yet run for something else someday. Give me a couple years to make some real change on some other fronts :)

Good. The times are begging for change, and I strongly believe that we as a country cannot ever be truly free with the continuing widening of wealth gap.
