If it takes that much effort to understand a slogan, then that slogan is bad. Those who believe in the ideas behind "Defund the police" need to come up with a better slogan.

It's not what I would have picked, but I didn't start the movement. It's the name black women picked, and it's our role right now to support them. And having a healthy discussion about policy is good for our society.

I’d have thought the goal was to effectively advocate for policies, not defend a slogan. And, not coincidentally, to win.

I have to admit, I had exactly that thought. Because yes, ultimately the goal is to get policy implemented (which yes, is mostly going to be done by Dems). We have to let the black community be the voice though, and that means using their words.
