Use this to when you talk to your social circle to explain what defund the police means, sure. But let's not try to impose our own name for a movement that already exists.

We are asking the police to do things that are outside their scope of practice. We need to have different branches of police and send social workers and people trained to deescilate situations.

That's exactly what it means! And that means we have to move some money from police budgets (not all, but some).

We cannot rename a movement that we are joining. We can talk about what we want to accomplish. Rs and those that will listen to Trump are going to oppose it anyway. It's talking about it so we realize we have the same policy goals. That's how we get to actually make it happen

Communities need a say on who carries a badge/gun in their community. Civilian review board for every hire. There also needs to be real consequences for actions. Don’t defund, deactivate the union. The police have been policing themselves for too long. Stop that first.

Those are part of what the movement is about. Defund doesn't mean take away all the $, just take some of the functions they do (mental health, social work) and give those functions and $ to the appropriate people.
