Also, the graph shows a downward trend from '06-'08, so did the 2008 wall really have an effect? Correlation =/= causation.

He’ll understand it because his reading comprehension isn’t atrocious. The wall didn’t appear over night. A valid interpretation of the data is the start of construction on the wall coincides with the precipitous drop seen over those years. Grade: F, signature of adult required.

If 2008 is completion date, it WOULD make sense for illegal crossers to go elsewhere at START of construction

What happened in 2006-08? Economic chaos and recession in the US if you recall. Many of the downturns and upswings you see in those graphs have to do with the economic conditions in the US at the time. There’s no doubt the walls have had big impact.

Let’s not forget the chilling effect Obama’s policy of separating children from their parents had in that 2006-2008 timeframe.
