Remember how Russia claims they get rid of Buk missiles more than 25 years old? Well Almaz Antey used one from 1988 in their #MH17 test in 2015. 2015-1988 = 27, so according to the Russians this missile should have already been scrapped.

Correction, the year of manufacture is actually 1987, so it's 28 years old, not 27 years old.

There is special kind of services provided by some defence contractors: service-life extension. So almaz antey argument is very weak

They were just helping terrorists in Donbass with this Buk, so why they had to worry about age of that rockets? Russians are using so old shit everywhere that it’s not a case at all. Main rule - “if it could fly - it should fly” without any age restrictions.

It could be they don't have those in army now, but have plenty in stock to utilize. As well as they did with tanks, took from storage first.

Almaz-Antey is a manufacturer and developer of missiles, he has all kinds of developed products, it is not the Army of the Russian Federation, where old missiles are subject to disposal, in the Ukrainian army missiles 80-ies are still in operation

The 9M38M1 missile with a 9N314M warhead used in the Alamaz-Antey static test came from the RU Defense Ministry stockpile. #MH17
