A response to the NYT’s 1619 Project, Trump’s crude “1776” revisionism is a clear statement of white entitlement, saying that only certain people can write history, that only the dissent of certain people is patriotic. The antithesis, in fact, of the American idea.
Dear 1776 Commission, I'm flipping to the next page but I'm sure you'll acknowledge that the USA abolished slavery WELL after most other nations, and that said nations weren't nearly split apart as a result of doing so.
