Eli Lake’s Tweets

I hope 2023 is the year when the finals MVP wasn’t even an All Star starter.

At this point if you come into my timeline acting as if Russia is the real aggrieved party, I consider it an intelligence test. I don’t think Twitter should ban your account or anything like that. I want the internet to see you in all of your glorious stupidly.

It’s shoddy propaganda. Putin ordered the elected Ukrainian leader to reverse his promise to join the EU. Ukrainians were justifiably furious. This is because Ukrainians don’t want to live under Russian domination.

Reasonable people can disagree on whether it’s worth it to arm Ukraine. I’m all for it, but I can see how someone could arrive at a different position. But the talking point that Russia’s invasion was somehow justified because of the democratic uprising in 2014 is pure fiction.

The children of Russian regime elites should be expelled from western universities. Their slots should be given to the children of Russian dissidents or Ukrainians. Also keep seizing the money and property of oligarchs.

The UN should host an international conference on devising a global strategy to demoralize and sabotage the Russian war machine.

Retweeting this and encouraging you to read the not-just-one reply in the comments of people mad about this comment -- who also have literal murderous dictators in as their profile pic or banner.

Don’t listen to anyone who says it’s provocative to send tanks to Ukraine as Russia continues its unprovoked and lawless invasion. Neutrality in the face of Russian barbarism invites more Russian barbarism. The only way to stop the war is to break the army that started it.

I’ve gotten some pushback for an earlier tweet that said Russia’s invasion of Ukraine was unprovoked. After reflecting on this feedback from our community, I’d like to amend my earlier tweet: Russia’s invasion of Ukraine was entirely and self evidently unprovoked.

I can’t discuss classified information, but I have seen more than circumstantial evidence that Adam Schiff does not always defend democracy

Kevin McCarthy just kicked me and @RepSwalwell off the Intelligence Committee. This is petty, political payback for investigating Donald Trump. If he thinks this will stop me, he will soon find out just how wrong he is. I will always defend our democracy.

I had nothing to do with that article, but this viral tweet is misinformation. In 2016, the FBI was running the Russia inquiry out of its DC headquarters, not its NY field office where McGonigal was counterintel chief. CI officials in DC like Priestap & Strzok supervised it.

Just to be clear, when the New York Times reported that the FBI saw “no link between Trump and Russia” — a week before the 2016 election — the FBI agent who was just arrested over ties to Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska was heading up the investigation. Just an absolute scandal.

Umm no. Mueller found no evidence of collusion. Also Chris Steele and Fusion GPS—the people responsible for the debunked dossier alleging collusion—were working at the time with Deripaska to retrieve money owed to him by Manafort.

Say what you will about Eli and the reeducation podcast... And I'm biased i think it's wonderful and informative. But the best part and what everyone should enjoy, regardless of your partisan view , is the bumper music between segments... Those choices are magic. ❤️

Probably the best and most detailed rendering of the historical causes and timeline of content modulation I’ve seen. Well worth the read.
