I don't say this lightly. We are witnessing the greatest roll back of voting rights in this country since the Jim Crow era. I appreciate the desire for bipartisanship, but Manchin and Sinema need to understand that history will not look kindly upon their filibuster defense

All across country Republicans weaponizing Trump’s lies to make it harder to vote. This is one of most disgusting things I’ve ever seen & underscores why Dems must urgently pass John Lewis Voting Rights Act & For the People Act to stop voter suppression motherjones.com/politics/2021/

The filibuster is an accident created when Senate rules were updated in the 1800s. It is not in the constitution. For a long time it was rarely used (and then to block civil rights legislation). The Senate was not "designed" to have a supermajority required for policy votes

One political party is for democracy. The other is opposed. It spreads conspiracy theories about the election and looks away at violent insurrection. It enacts legislation to suppress votes, a legal way to more respectfully do what Capitol Police killers were unable to do

I'd go so far as to say there are many states--like perhaps mine & yours--we'll only rarely win again if Synema & Manchin can't be convinced to at least threaten the "nuclear option" unless Voting Rights is allowed to be voted upon. In the case of Synema, that may include AZ

Because they are scared. And it will backfire. When they can rollback TIME, thats when I'll worry. As long as time keeps moving?* They'll keep losing. The country is changing, and they are fearful that there is NOTHING they can do about it.* Heightened by a black female VP.*
