At the moment, Hawaii is going through an uncertain future, whereas a sacred geographic landmark may be desecrated with the construction of the TMT, and a billionaire suing native families for their land. It is important that we elect a representative who will introduce and push
for federal recognition of Native Hawaiians. It is important we elect a representative who will work to grant natives the funds and other perks tht are given to other indigenous groups within the US. For too long, the people of Hawaii have been ignored in their demands for
being treated like human beings. It is the duty of Congress and the President to answer these calls and no longer be complicit in these immoral exploitations through silence. Native Hawaiians shouldn’t have to continue to suffer and take the time out of their days to protest and
invest in costly legal disputes. If we wish to be a country that is truly equal and supportive of all, we need to start with supporting indigenous peoples equally and the best way we can.
