Victory?! I didnt even get to sign it yet but I am happy for Hawaii that the legislature was deferred.
My opponent supported legislation that would require that any family wishing to home educate their child/children via traditional homeschool or via online public charter schools be subject to a Child Protective Services investigation and get “permission” to home educate.

Idk it’s kinda a fine line isn’t it? You wanna respect the freedom of the individual but we still have a responsibility to the child. The child is defenseless in these situations. So someone has to be there to protect them from the nuts like extremists

No. Parents are the guardians of those kids. Inviting CPS and Police into the decision of educating your children is absolutely wrong. Bad Parents face consequences after the crime like everyone else. Not all workers are bad but some fabricate evidence. Also profit incentives.

Yeah... but I had cousins who were homeschooled and could have been saved from their child-raping father and complicit mother if someone checked. Anyone who is above board doesn’t mind having a check done so that other kids aren’t being subject to horrific abuse. Right?

Child protective services should have been involved, but not because the parents decided to homeschool. Homeschool student counseling should be implemented. Demanding CPS gets involved with all families is draconian. I do not recommend what you suggest.
