I just saw a yard sign for Mark Curran, the ex-sheriff in Lake County, who's running against Dick Durbin! OMG. Not only did he think that Lake County went in the wrong direction because we elected a Black Sheriff - he doesn't like nonprofits that who help poor people.
1) I never said any such thing about my successor. Never once. 2) It's ludicrous to think I don't like nonprofits, especially those that help people. You can oppose me on political differences, but please do not smear my good name.

You're referring to comments when I first announced my candidacy last Aug. I was talking about the criminals & gangbangers that had been moving from the City into Lake Co. Those people aren't good for Lake Co.

Between 2000 and 2010, Lake county saw a 77% rise in its Asian population and a 51% rise in its Hispanic population. During the same time, it saw just a 2% rise in its White population. That “the wrong people moved in” comment was clear.

I had tremendous support as Sheriff from the Hispanic & Asian communities. To insinuate I meant anything other than what I previously told you is flat out wrong. I watched the criminals come to N. Chicago, Waukegan & elsewhere. That is what I was referring to. Have a good night.
