      Forget that 99% rhetoric. Regardless of the individuals, there is a culture of corruption, aggression, and violence at the heart of every police dept across the country. Your rhetoric is just a deflection. Start addressing root causes or gtfo

      I actually did while sheriff. I took a poorly run disaster of an office & made it an exemplary one. I took on the unions that protected bad LEOs AND received state/national accreditation for the changes I made. Not to mention, I stood firmly against the "code of silence".

      Good on you for responding. What practical steps are best for addressing police unions coddling bad LEOs that other departments can take?

      Sunlight. There needs to be an honest, open discussion & exposure of the power of police unions. And I guess public sector unions in general, really. But no chief/sheriff wants to put up with LEOs who disregard policy or fail to uphold their Constitutional Oath. That's the truth.
