Perhaps you are against personal responsibility for LEOs, but some of us were raised properly and so we demand our public servants serve with accountability. Other members sacrifice as much and more, and they do not always carry guns and badges.
I held by deputies and correctional officers responsible for their violations of LCSO policy. I took on the unions who tried to protect bad apples. I rejected the "code of silence" and held those who served with, & under, me accountable.
I will happily take your word for service if you take my word that too many people are too often used to departments where there is no accountability. Nothing against you personally, but the words often read as "the check is in the mail", "I'm from the govt & I'm here to help"
I am originally from just outside Schenectady, where police corruption was so rife that the mayor called for martial law and the FBI was brought in. These same officers had no problem smiling and being polite in DARE, etc. You will understand my hesitation. God bless, sir
Good, that is what we expect. I served as an Army Officer. I was also called to a high standard & required it of my soldiers. Not every PD has that culture. Chicago, for example, where I work. Reform has failed due to FOP resistance. Bad cops are reinstated. Tell us what to do!!
