I don't say this to be hyperbolic, but @JBPritzker doesn't care about the people outside of Cook. The only constituency he cares about pleasing is Chicago because he knows Chicago will help re-elect him. We don't all live in Chicago and it's damn time someone started thinking of the rest of this state. Do you think only people in Chicago pay taxes? We're being literally taxed out of existence downstate to pay for all the screw ups in Chicago. I think YOU should start listening

If Chicago was made it's own state, downstate would rejoice. We'd have lower taxes, better schools, roads etc. All of the money goes to Chicago and for what? Billions in mismanaged pension funds. Guess what we have our own govt pensions to fund. We shouldn't fund theirs too.

I don't have the #'s from IDES, but from recent US unemployment- middle-age, white-collar professionals were least affected by the shutdowns. Added with the strong labor unions in Chicago. Pritzker's probably betting he won't lose that support.
